Liverpool is only an hour or so away - it's motorway all the way from Chester. If you want to arrive in style, take the world-famous 'ferry across the Mersey' from the Wirral and sail across to Pier Head - you'll get a great view of the Liverpool waterfront. The Albert Dock, the Tate Liverpool and both the cathedrals are all within walking distance of Pier Head - the imposing Anglican Liverpool Cathedral, and the still-modernistic Catholic Metropolitan Cathedral.

There's great shopping and plenty of places to eat and drink. The Beatles Story lives on - there are Beatles tours, a Beatles shop and you can visit the childhood homes of John Lennon and Paul McCartney.
