South Cheshire is gentle, rolling countryside - a real patchwork of villages and fields. You wouldn't guess you're so close to Chester. It's quiet and peaceful, and is situated at the top of the Welsh Marches. Still a farming area, it has many small businesses tucked away in between the farms. There are plenty of local facilities, including shops selling an excellent range of top-quality foods. You can buy a selection of them from us at Millmoor Farm - but if there's anything else you need just ask us for advice. Rare breed meats, free range eggs, top-quality local cheeses and lovely local jams and preserves - we're spoiled for choice! Although all the major supermarkets deliver direct to the cottages, why not try our local foods for a change? - it will make your stay at Millmoor Farm all the more enjoyable and memorable. You can help yourself to the foods we sell at any time - there's an honesty box at the back door of the farmhouse. The Wheatsheaf Inn in No Mans Heath is under a mile from the farm. It's a traditional English country pub, with great home-cooked food and a good selection of draught beers. Click here to see some pictures of the area
Malpas is a lovely little town just minutes from Millmoor Farm. It is set high up on a sandstone ridge, with a picturesque church and castle mound. There are great views over the Dee Valley into Wales, Cheshire and Shropshire, just yards from the High Street. There's a newsagent, post office and two small supermarkets (both stay open until 10pm), plus a butcher, bank, café, restaurant, pubs, gift shops, pet shop, electrical shops and a bric a brac store. In fact, Malpas probably has all the shops you'll need during your stay! There are also several good farm shops close to Millmoor Farm.
Whitchurch in Shropshire is just 6 miles away, and has larger supermarkets and a wider range of shops, including several garages.
