Things to do

There are plenty of things to do without leaving the farm!

We have a children’s play area and you can see any of the animals – all you have to do is ask us. You can even help us feed them and look after them.

There are many footpaths and bridleways – just ask us for a map.

For the local area, please see the ideas below or see Places to Visit for more ideas.

Cholmondeley Castle Gardens (just 5 miles away)

Romantic gardens, rambling woodland walks around the lake and a children’s farm and play area make this a great family day out. There’s a full programme of events throughout the year, too.

Cheshire Ice Cream Farm

Not only 30+ flavours of wonderful creamy ice cream, but also a tea room, farm shop, gift shop, animal corner and indoor and outdoor play areas!

Candle Workshops

Try your hand at making your own candles! – or just buy some of the lovely ready-made candles.

Beeston Castle

Perched on an outcrop above the Cheshire Plain, Beeston Castle was a built in the 13th century, by an earl of Chester. It is a stiff walk to the top, but the views make it all worthwhile. The crag on which Beeston sits shows the power of the ice sheets that once covered Cheshire – one side has been gouged into a steep cliff, while the other is a more gentle slope, making it a perfect place for a fortress.

Crocky Trail (Waverton, Chester)

This is quite unique! – an adventure trail that is a cross between a playground and an assault course, set in the middle of Cheshire fields! Kids just love the challenges it sets them – working out how to get round, under and through the mazes, swings, slides, bridges and tunnels exercises the brain as well as the body!

Grindley Brook Locks

A set of staircase locks on the Shropshire Union Canal make for interesting viewing of the boats as they drop below the main road. There’s a good café and delicatessen at the locks, too.

Hampton Springs Fishery

This is a lovely fishery just a couple of miles away. It has 12 acres of water across 8 lakes, with a great variety of coarse fish. Plenty of car parking and a café make this a fisherman’s dream!

Malpas Yesteryear Rally

Every September, traction engines, tractors and old vehicles of every description are on display. You can see craft displays and exhibitions of how things used to be done. It’s a great day out!
